Exercise Through The Years
Since I love to eat, and in-love with food, my weight became a real
concern during my late twenties. I always felt comfortable with a weight
of 115-120 lb. that seemed almost guaranteed for life. But when I saw
how that easily changed as I almost reached 30 – I was determined
to get rid of those few excess pounds that would probably accumulate
to more than just a “few”.
I did not want to
count calories, or eat certain foods; go on a diet, or keep my life
in a strict discipline way of life when it came to foods. I still wanted
to eat what I loved and not have to sacrifice my favorite foods.
After
all, what kind of life would it be to give up delicious foods? The only
solution that worked was simple and easy. Exercise 3 to 4 times a week
with a form of exercise that we enjoyed. I began to exercise regularly
since 1983, joined several gyms for 13 years and now practice my exercise
routine in the comfort of my home. I found that exercising to loud music
kicked off my energy level and motivated me. Ok – I admit I blew
out a few speakers over the years, but who’s counting? The pounds
began to shed, and I was still enjoying and not cutting back on all
my favorite foods.
After giving birth,
gaining from 40 – 60 pounds for each child, exercise was the answer
again to give back my body. As I aged, I noticed that my desired weight
for my body changed as well. The pounds I felt comfortable with when
I was 30 was less than what I am comfortable with today. The key to
keeping fit is eating foods with “moderation” and “balance”
with the types of foods that are enjoyed. Through the years, I know
that exercise is the best medicine for my body, soul , feeling strong
and staying healthy. The benefits of exercise are not to be taken for
granted – and I encourage everyone to find their form of exercise
to fit their lifestyle.
